Twelfth house venus in love

Leave it to the 12th house Venus to make love the centre of her universe for better or for worse. She has a shyness or vulnerability that is very much a part of her essence. Though she may have insecurities, this causes her to always remain humble, as she can easily relate to the wounds of those around her. She stands in juxtaposition to the pushers and aggressors of the world with a calm spiritualism – this is because she feels, on a soul level, that God is always looking after her, and he is. She may slip from time to time, her confidence waning. Perhaps she has fallen into the wrong hands, her vulnerability and goodness exploited. For example, she may fall in love with someone who is only out to use or abuse her. In the meantime everyone around her will be confused as to why she lives in this perpetual cycle of abuse and yet defends her abuser wholeheartedly. It may be enraging for her loved ones to witness. Some may think her stupid and foolish, that she is too blind to see that she is being taken for a ride. However, it is very likely that she does see what she is being put through, but is unable to withdraw. This is not out of stupidity or foolishness, but out of empathy and compassion. For if it is anyone who can see deep down into the hearts of all men and women, it is venus born in this house. She sees the goodness in all people, even her abuser. She empathizes with his rage, and shows compassion in the face of her humiliation. This need not be her outcome though, only a speck on her existence. For love makes us all the wiser and there is compassion needed around every corner.

Goodnight

Venus in the 12th house

Venus in the 12th house is making the most beautiful love to someone, and right when they finish, they say they have to leave…

Venus in the 12th house is feeling hope that everyone has a soul mate; hope that there’s a soul mate for everyone except yourself…

Venus in the 12th house is pretending that you’re over the heart ache, but in the meantime you’re dying on the inside; no one would ever be able to tell.

Feel free to add to this

Venus in the 12th house finding love

This post is going to be dedicated entirely to the placement of Venus in the twelfth house on finding love. Can a person with venus in the 12th house find true love? Or are we destined to fall into the negative interpretations of this placement:

tortured by romantic longings

too shy to make a move

ever falling for someone who is unavailable and unable to disclose their feelings

fear of rejection

not feeling beautiful or worthy of love

inclined to get involved in clandestine relationships

becoming the enabler or supporter of an addictive personality

or at its worse becoming involved with someone who is abusive or degrading

I think the question that should be answered is not what but rather why? Why do these things happen to individuals with venus in the 12th house? Why do they get involved in these types of relationships? I think the first answer to this question is that they don’t always get into these kinds of relationships. However, they do have the ability to attract individuals who are addictive or drug addicts or just don’t give the kind of love that these people need. These people may be selfish or don’t have the ability to return the vast array of love that the twelfth house venus possesses.

The thing that makes the individual with venus in the 12th house so unique is that their love has no bounds. There is zero boundary. The way they approach love is almost very childlike; wide-eyed, vulnerable and giving. The unfortunate thing is that by nature humans do have the tendency to take advantage of people like this. This may help explain why an individual with venus in the 12th house will attract someone with an addictive personality, or in need for better or worse. It is not that they are forever cursed, destined to be loveless, or in pain, or rejected or those kind of negative things that have been associated with this placement. It is that who they are, or how they approach love, boundless and open, will naturally attract people who are in need. And deep down the 12th house venus are precisely those kind of people who can love those in need unconditionally.

The problem is the that the 12th house venus is sometimes so vulnerable and or in need of ‘love’ that they identify too much with what this person is giving them, which is possibly not much, that it can negatively affect their self-worth, or growth. How does this happen? How do we break these patterns?

This might not be the case for all venus in the 12th house individuals. It really depends on their upbringing, how they have been shaped by their parents, family, friends, romantic partners. Perhaps this individual comes from a family that didn’t really support them, or give them the kind of nurturing they needed. Perhaps they fell into an abusive relationship at a young age, and this kind of cycle has perpetuated into their adulthood. Or perhaps they have had the great fortune of coming from a background where their parents gave them a lot of love and support no matter what and have found one healthy relationship that has progressed into adulthood. All of this is life; no matter what house placement your venus falls in.

Some people have fortunes and some people have misfortunes, but it is never too late to make the most of the gifts that have been given to you. And that is the gift of venus in the 12th house. No matter who you are or where you’ve come from there is one thing that all venus in the 12th people have in common and that is the ability to love wholeheartedly, universally, without prejudice, vulnerably, openly, and unconditionally. So the most important question that these people need to ask themselves is how do I define love? What is my definition of love? The truth is the move narrow view you take on love, the more you will suffer. If you expend all your love on one person who is an addict or in need of help, you will most likely end up feeling their loss.

The point is that in order to make the most of the gifts, you have to universalize your love. Take a broader view so to speak. How does one do that? Define your love. What do you want? Ask yourself. Be practical. If anyone can do it it’s venus in the 12th house.

There is nothing wrong with helping those in need, but if you don’t want to feel the loss, stop investing your self-esteem and self-worth into people who are hurting you. The love you give is the love you receive, so stop being so shy and hiding it away.

I have more to say on this topic, so stay tuned.

A soft tune is humming, the rain is pouring from the gray and gloomy overcast sky, and I am calm and centered. This feels a lot like an ideal venus in the 12th house kind of moment. But despite the beauty that surrounds me there is a certain sadness that looming from that gray sky. Whilst mother nature is releasing these raindrops for nourishment of plant life, and nature, there is also a feeling that she is crying out to humanity – the universal spirit.

While she loves the earth and wants to feed nature, there is a part of her that feels as if she is lacking such love in return. She is always giving, and loving hopelessly, but feels as if she is not getting that love reciprocated. And although she feels pain and hurt and suffering, a deeper look will show us that there is love; the love she gives is the love that is being returned to her. The love in the form of the seeds that she plants does not dissipate into a nothingness. It does not just disappear. That love that she plants grows roots, and stems and buds and more seeds. And when those seeds are blown about by the wind (mother natures dearest friend), they too are replanted and will grow into a new life.

Quite frequently mother nature sits and observes unknowingly the different forms of love that benefit from her goodness

birds that use her twigs to make nests for their babes

humans that cut down her trees and use the wood to built their homes and fuel their fires

she hurts deep below because she fails to realise that without her existence and valuable talents these things would not happen. Birds would not have twigs, humans would not have trees – life would not sustain itself.

Although mother nature yearns for that kind of love, from man to woman, bird to bird, tree to tree – she is unaware that her love is greater, more vast, and boundless. Her love is what keeps the world spinning. And while it might hurt her sometimes because she feels as if her love is not appreciated, or that she is missing out on simple joys – in the end her love lasts even when mankind ceases to be. It does not die with death but carries on for centuries to come.

Having a venus in the 12th house can sometimes feel like secret pain that we carry on our hearts. But what we must not forget is that we have an important gift that must not go to waste. Although it may frequently feel like our love lives are unconventional, or that we are missing out on ‘normal’ joys, its important to remember that this may not necessarily be a bad thing. The more we show our universal love, the more we normalize it and teach others that love is not possessive, jealous or anti-social.

So keep on smiling because you never know who’s heart you’re healing today.

Neptune sun aspects

I find myself enamored with anything related to neptune, as is probably evident by my many posts on it. There are days when I feel like I have a wonderful grasp on what it’s all about. But just when I am about to pick it apart and make sense of it all, I am eluded by it in it’s whole entirety. It’s a mystery. I think that’s what makes it such a beautiful aspect to have in a chart, because it literally goes so deep and then swims away from us all. You could always be chasing it down into the depths of the sea. And when you get there you might find a piece of it. It will daze and amaze you. You will be mystified by whatever you find at the bottom. However, be warned that it is prone to change right before your very eyes. Your greatest hopes and fears weaved together in a chaotically shining spider web. This is not the type of change you see with pluto aspects – transformation. This kind of change is more reminiscent  of magic. Did I just see what I saw? Hear what I heard? Feel what I felt? What’s real? I feel as if I am living in a dream.

It can be real. It’s all real if you want it to be. And the more you believe the easier you will be able to engage with – the hidden aspects of the world.

Characteristics of Sun Neptune individuals

What I have noticed about these people is that there is a light-hearted, and playful quality to them. The older/wiser they get the more evident this aspect will become. It might be hard to figure out their age, especially when they are older. They may look much younger than they really are and act this part accordingly. They are chameleons and will adapt to their social surroundings. They will take on the characteristics of the dominant age group they are around.

On the bright side of things (trine, sextile) they are dreamy, inspired, creative, and empathetic. On the negative side of things (opposition, square) they are deceptive, irresponsible, unreliable, unsure of themselves, and immature.

These people are quite attractive. They will generally know what to say to you when you are feeling bogged down. They have a vast well of experiences, belonging either to themselves or lessons from others that they have listened to in order to cure whatever ails you. However, with the negative aspects this may be more of feeding into what you want to hear as opposed to what you need to hear. Their naturalness and sincerity will surely get you and for the most part they won’t even be aware of it.

On the positive side of things, the creative aspects will easily flow into every area of their life. Whatever they do, they will be able to infuse an original and heightened part into it. These are people that have an easy time picking up on artistic skills, whether it be teaching themselves how to play an instrument, or painting a picture (at any age). On the negative side of things, they will have a build-up of creative potential, unsure of how to bring it to light. It may brew inside of them without any outlet, mostly because they don’t know how to practically bring it to life. It may eat away at them, especially as they can feel it falling away or going to waste. This is reminiscent of an individual chasing a dream (something that exists only in the imagination) as opposed to taking the necessary steps in order to achieve what it is they wish to (and for the most part, they most surely can).

“If you can dream it you can achieve it” should be their motto.

They are sensitive and empathetic and can easily relate to the emotions of others. On the bright side of things, this endows them with a social-worker like quality. They will usually go out of their way to help you and can easily set it right. However, on the negative side of things, they may relate too easily to the emotions of others, to the point of losing important boundaries, becoming too easily affected or paralyzed by what is felt. They may put too much energy into fighting for the wrong causes, and end up burnt out.

Sun/neptune individuals might not easily fit into the cut-throat would in which we inhabit. They are soft, sensitive, and soulful, not prone to step on toes, or cut others down in order to survive.

You may be the type of person to put others before yourself to your detriment, but don’t see it this way because your life purpose isn’t about putting yourself first. And that’s okay. There is nothing wrong with being selfless if it means you end  up with less to nothing because you are planting the seeds of something greater than yourself. Your actions grow trees and forests, so you will never be without sustenance.  Don’t be afraid of walking in the opposite direction of where our world seems to be going. Don’t get tired of being easily affected or sensitive, and hide away your talents for this is exactly makes you so unique and beautiful. You might find that other people go out of their way to put you down, or attack you but that’s because they don’t understand you and this scares them. You have a spiritual strength that is beyond anything our material world can offer. Never forget that.

Sincerely,

Sun Square Neptune

Do not be deterred by the negative. Balance them against one another. You will find your karma from the past year coming to fruition. If you have been selfless this will be a bountiful time. If you have been selfish your karma may not be so good. If this happens deal with it and make the necessary changes for the next 12 month cycle.

Important*** Do not feel bad about having alone time. You will need this time to recharge for the next 12 month cycle. Best of luck!

Positive perspectives on Sun in the 12th house

There are some astrological interpretations that can be very negative of this house placement. I remember when I first became interested in astrology years ago there were not many modern interpretations to be found on the internet. In more recent times I have seen an explosion in perspectives on twelfth house suns, which are shedding light on the more positive aspect of this placement. People with this placement are coming together to discuss their lives and prove that they have not suffered from the traditional or fatalistic interpretations of this house.

Fatalistic interpretations of sun in the 12th house

You will have a bad relationship with your father or your father will abandon you

You will spend time in prison, either through work or becoming imprisoned

You have a weak ego, and will be bullied as a child

The first part of your life will be difficult

If you do not serve, you will suffer, or you will attract suffering and pain

You will be a shy and reclusive person

You will suffer from secret health issues

Something awful will happen to you in your childhood, or you will have a terrible secret from your childhood

You will be easily overlooked and ignored.

I would like to address some of these interpretations from my perspective

As a Libra sun in the 12th house, not only do I find these placements to be wrong on a personal level, but also wrong with regard to my twelfth house loved ones: my brother, cousin and best friend. The things that I do notice about this placement is that that these people will not attract suffering per say, but that they may be more aware, or empathetic with the suffering of others. They also tend to have less of a boundary when it comes to other people and suffering. This is because their ego is being found through 12th house affiliations such as the collective, and spirituality. When we think of spirituality we might ponder upon the idea of enlightenment. But how do we get to a state of enlightenment? We often have to explore some some deep dark places in order to emerge into the light. So if there is any sort of suffering in this natives life, it is because these people empathize and feel it in others, or from society as a whole. These natives might have a hard time to ignore certain issues and empathize with them wholeheartedly for better or worse; they may hurt for society but this could also drive them to do something about it! This can explain a lot when it comes to fatalistic interpretations of this placement. It is not that they are attracting suffering in their lives, or that there is a magnet attached to them to cause them pain, it is that they are noticing suffering, and perhaps going out of their way to ease such suffering for better or worse.

The interpretation that the childhood will be difficult and the child will be overlooked can be explained in a more positive and different way. It is true that there is nothing normal about this child but this need not be a negative thing. This child is mystical and imaginative and may have certain affinities. They might communicate with spirits or feel a very close connection to God and nature. It is true that this child may not have the ego boundaries that other house placements have as they are discovering who they are through the collective. They may be overly generous and self-sacrificing to the point that they can be taken advantage of by their friends, but this does not necessarily mean that they are going to be bullied. At a young age this placement MAY be difficult because children are so pure and haven’t gone through the life experiences that tell them who is good for them or not. But in time they will realize it and be all the more wise for it. If anything this softened ego would make them a very likable person, and liable to attract many personalities and friends.

The life path for this individual is being discovered through 12th house synonyms. The sun is illuminated on all things related to this house, spirituality, other dimensions, the unconscious, the collective, dreams, imagination, depth and creativity.  The ego is being discovered though these areas of life, things that are not so tangible or seen to the naked eye. While these are the types of children that have invisible friends, the truth is that these friends might be more than invisible. These friends might be spirits or from alternative dimensions.

The idea that the native will be shy and reclusive and avoid the limelight is also fatalistic. As this native is on a life path of discovering the ego through spirituality, God, or creativity, they may require more time alone than the average person in order to recharge energies. A more positive term to this is not reclusive but meditative. This may be misconstrued for shyness, or reclusiveness in a world where constantly being energetic or out and about is lauded. In this house the ego is being nurtured and fed by the cosmic force, and in order to get there you need to tune out and tap in from time to time.

The last thing I want to mention in this long passage is the idea of the father being absent or distant. I don’t know where this came from or whether or not it is true. But what I do know is that I have a lot of friends with absent or distant fathers, and they do not have 12th house sun placements. I also know a lot of 12th house suns that have great relationships with their father such as my brother and myself. My best friend’s dad is the epitome of the ideal father, to the point that he has become a second father to myself. And my cousins dad is not distant or absent and can only be described as the opposite; he is very involved in the lives of his children. I have a lot more to say but that is all I want to write for now. If you have any comments with regards to debunking these fatalistic interpretations please feel free to leave a comment. In the meantime I would like to leave off with a spectacular video I found on youtube with a Sun in the 12th house native talking about this placement from a positive perspective. She deserves credit as her video inspired this post.

Romantics and dreamers look no further. This is the house where the ego can defy the impossible both in dreams and everyday life. Miracles are true realities for these people. Individuals born with this placement appreciate the good because they have gone through the bad to get there. Creative, sensitive, and empathetic they are able to sense other’s deepest feelings, fears, vulnerabilities. They may also be easily preyed upon because of such sensitivities. They are born healers and a natural helpers. They see beauty that others may overlook. This placement may be more difficult in youth. Life experience brings great spiritual wisdom and rewards.

The life’s goal or challenge is discovering oneself through the collective. Serve or suffer is a line that has been associated with this house. It is as if the soul cannot refuse to serve, or help out those in need. Suffering comes from self-undoing, that is self-punishment, and feelings of guilt when they are not able to help or do more. However, beware, as you may frequently attract those in need, sometimes not genuinely so. You may get bogged down by the pain of others. You may identify too much with those suffering around you. You may feel discouraged by the state of the world and as a result retreat into yourself, or the protective fantasy life you have created in order to deal with the noise. You may turn to drugs or alcohol to numb certain sensitives or pain that do not even belong to you. You must create a healthy boundary between yourself and those around you. You won’t be able to function at your maximum potential if you are constantly a prisoner of other people’s agony. The negative side of Neptune can be aggravated by certain aspects. Keep developing a broad understanding and perspective, as it will assist you with the challenges of this house.

Such people function best in group settings whereby they are making a positive contribution to the world around them. Reflective, and spiritual, they may enter professions where they can achieve goals that would make the world a better place. They can use their ego to charge up groups or light up certain causes. Such causes may seem idealistic, but they must keep at it because it will move the world in a more collective direction. An example of a Twelfth house sun individual who used the gifts of this house is Mahatma Ghandi. He channeled his ideal into making the world a better place. He is an example of a positive side of Sun in the 12th, using yourself to represent a cause, and did so wholeheartedly. He became the cause, or in his own words, became the change he wished to see in the world. His quote is a beautiful example of what this house is about.

It may be difficult to get a good firm foot on the ground when your sun is found in this house because it can frequently feel as if you are floating through a deep dark sea, blind as to which direction to take; but that is exactly why this house is so special. What you can do and where you can go is so vast, and undefinable. Although you may be bogged down by the water at times. and feel at the mercy of the violent waves thrashing you around, remember you are born of the sea. Once you accept that you can utilize your instincts and find your way around. If we look at modern day life, scientists are still not completely settled on the sea. Everyday something new is being discovered about it, it’s function, vastness, and the creatures that live within. Symbolically speaking this idea can be linked to the twelfth house sun. If anyone can understand the deepest depths of our world it is you. But don’t spent too much time down there, the world needs you too!

Venus in the 12th house

The planet Venus represents love in whatever form it means to you.

The 12th house is the dissolution of the ego, identity, the self, washed away by the sea. It brings us lessons that strip us down to the core, the spirit, the soul, moving us closer to the collective heart.

When the lessons of Venus are discovered in this house, the true magic begins. Love can deify all obstacles. However, in order for Venus in the 12th house to live up to her true potential, she must be free to love in any way, shape, or form, all encompassing and self-less. If she is forced to love one person, Venus will feel out of place. Venus in the 12th house is love of the collective and universal. She will be most happiest and at ease when she can love all, equally and without limitation.

Many astrological interpretations of Venus in this house say that individuals with this placement will be found in professions such as social work or nursing which involves helping others. Broadly speaking, you will probably find these individuals working in professions in which they can create a space to help others, or put their energy towards making the world a more beautiful, harmonious, and pleasing place.

Mercury retrograde

Whenever I think of Mercury Retrograde the song Mercury by Bloc Party pops into my head;

“This is not the time, the time to start a new love, this is not the time, the time to sign a lease, try not to worry about what’s forgotten
try not to worry about what’s been missed”.

It makes me laugh because I think about all the times I tried to deify mercury during a retrograde period only to be smite down by his technological lessons.

For those of you that are new to astrology I will give a little background.

The planet mercury can be equated with things in our lives related to communication, technology, contracts, travel, writing, dialogue, brothers and sisters, media outlets etc. Generally speaking any sort of synonym you can connect with the idea of communication is what mercury embodies.

In astronomy mercury is a fast moving planet.
In astrology it is personal and connected with our thoughts and ideas. It rules the sign of Gemini.

In both astronomy and astrology a retrograde is a phenomena in which a planet appears to be moving backwards in the sky. Symbolically speaking this can have the effect in which all the synonyms connected to mercury (e.g communication/technology) are in a phase of disarray or a period of a standstill.

As social media and communication become a bigger part of our lives, so too does mercurial periods of retrogrades. Humans cannot be expected to communicate day in and day out without reflection. If we have no time to think about our interactions, then we cannot evolve or grow and learn from the ways in which we connect with each other and the world around us. Mercury retrograde reminds us of this through its little disruptions. It shows that the ways in which we are communicating are no longer effective and need to expand/evolve.

Therefore, while this period might be one in which communication is breaking down, i.e there are communication disruptions, whether it be technological, or in our interpersonal relationships, we can always extract important lessons as to why this is occurring.

The ways in which a mercury retrograde will effect you depends on the house in which your mercury is traveling. However, the broader point to keep in mind is that no matter what house your mercury is traveling, you can always use this time to re-evaluate your everyday interactions, and take some time to reflect upon the big decisions you might be in the process of making. Most likely mercury will be forcing you to do so regardless or whether you are aware of it or not.

For example if your mercury is transiting your second house (house of possessions) you may be in the process of buying a larger item, such as a car or a house; the lesson you can learn during this time is to SHOP AROUND. I signed a lease during a mercury retrograde period and BIG MISTAKE. Every time mercury went retrograde while I was living in the flat, I had huge maintenance issues. I am currently waiting on my deposit for this flat and have a bad feeling about getting it back (I will update on this once the retrograde period passes).

If your mercury is traveling your fifth house (house of pleasure, creativity, and romance), you might find that you are unhappy with a certain romantic relationship and want to bring it to an end. Before making a hasty decision, you can use this time to reflect upon your relationship and what exactly you are feeling and want out of it or your relationships in general.

Generally speaking mercury retrogrades are not the best time to make big decisions. So if you can do anything, use this time to think about all the synonyms related to communication. And why shouldn’t you? The point is that in this fast paced world you should be allowed to THINK, REFLECT, EVALUATE. Evaluate your options. Give yourself time. Don’t feel pressure to make a decision.

In a society where action and quick thinking is applauded, sometimes reflecting and introspecting can bring even greater rewards. So in conclusion use this time to philosophize. Take your time to reflect and don’t feel guilty about it!

Mercury retrograde (use this time to THINK ABOUT these things instead of ACTING/DECIDING)

  • Signing a contract
  • Taking a big job
  • Booking important travel plans (use this time to shop around for deals!)
  • Ending a romance
  • Buying a large item or items related to communication (e.g computers)
  • Having a big, important, life changing discussion
  • Proposing marriage
  • Applying for something big (e.g school)

*Mercury is retrograde from June 26–July 20 2013. The next mercury retrograde period is October 21st 2013.
